US President Donald Trump was forced to halt a campaign speech in Kentucky due to a medical emergency in the audience. While addressing supporters and criticizing Democrat Gavin Newsom, a woman behind him collapsed. The incident was captured live on the White House’s YouTube stream, showing Trump interrupting his address, turning around, and calling for a doctor. The audience fell silent as first responders rushed to assist the woman. The live broadcast was temporarily paused, displaying a message indicating it would resume shortly.
However, other outlets, including C-Span, continued to show scenes from the event. These broadcasts revealed Dr. Mehmet Oz, widely known to the US public as “Dr. Oz,” coming to the aid of the collapsed woman. President Trump later extensively praised Dr. Oz for his quick intervention, highlighting the unexpected involvement of a familiar television personality in the emergency.
True to his distinctive style, Trump provided an unconventional commentary on the potentially serious situation. As the woman received medical attention behind him, the Commander-in-Chief attempted to act as a DJ. He asked the crowd, “Want to play a song? Do you think the people backstage are listening to me? How about Ave Maria? Ave Maria, if they are listening, Ave Maria by Pavarotti.” It appeared the backstage crew did not fulfill his request, as the song was not heard in the available videos of the incident.
Minutes later, Trump resumed his speech. No immediate information was provided regarding the woman’s medical condition. In what was presumably intended as a jest, the former US President attributed the woman’s collapse to his criticism of Democrat Newsom, remarking, “This topic didn’t sit well with her.” The incident bears a resemblance to a similar situation during the 2024 campaign in Pennsylvania, where two individuals collapsed at a Trump event and were reportedly transported while “Ave Maria” played in the background.
